Our Business 

Based in San Francisco, in association with Sunset Shapers surfshop we focus on custom surfboards.  Las Olas Surfboards specializes in performance surfboards in the 6' to 8' plus range.  We also make funboards and fish as well as "retro" shapes (single fin, width forward, down rails, ect.) all fully customizable and designed to your specifications.  

We also build boards using Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam and Epoxy resin.    Boards made using this technology are ultra light and about 25% stronger than a polyurethane/polyester (pu/pe) board.  They have a similar flex pattern to pu/pe boards, are quick and responsive underfoot and have little of the problems with board "chatter" that plagued much of the equipment made with these materials in the past.  The scraps and dust from these blanks can be recycled into more blanks and the Epoxy resin releases none of the volatile organic compounds (VOC's) produced by polyester resin.  Since there are no VOC's released in the manufacturing process these boards are safer for the people who build them and have much less of an environmental impact.  EPS/Epoxy boards have a pure white color and because they are stronger and more durable that means that they will spend more time in the water and less in a land-fill.

Las Olas also focuses on creating distinguished and personalized artwork on our boards.  Please browse our photo gallery to see some of our work, or for ideas for yourself.  Las Olas Surfboards can also make boards with images that you create yourself.  Be it a drawing or sketch, or a photograph taken by you, at Las Olas Surfboards we can screen the image onto a special cloth that can be glassed into the board for a crisp and clear, fully custom board.  Please contact us for more details on how to send your images, because life's too short to ride a boring board.

Las Olas Surfboards is owned and  operated by James Mitchell and is based out of San Francisco, Ca. 

Las Olas was founded in order to offer unique and personalized equipment for surfers looking to escape the larger surf industry and its commodification of the boards we use and the activity we love.

Price Menu

Below is a price menu that customers can refer to in order to get a rough idea of how much a new custom Las Olas surfboard would cost*. 

Many of our customers request special glass jobs or custom art on their surfboards, some of the most common requests are listed below the "menu".  The cost for these specialty items are shown accordingly and should be added to the "retail" price shown above. 

For example: An 8'6" Blue tinted surfboard with a polished finish, fiberglass leash loop, and custom art would cost: 

     $700 (retail cost) + $20 (leash loop) + $50 (custom art) = $770*
